“For, while the tale of how we suffer, and how we are delighted, and how we may triumph is never new, it always must be heard. There isn’t any other tale to tell, it’s the only light we’ve got in all this darkness.”
– James Baldwin
I’m Caitlyn.
I grew up in the suburbs. Went to college in the country. Am hoping to move to the city in the next year.
I was a psychology major, am currently going to graduate school for Intelligence and Criminal Analysis, hoping to work with counterterrorism.
My lab puppy, Willa; my chihuahua, Rios; drinking wine by the fire pit with friends; sprawling out at the shore; hiking and kayaking; going to the swimming hole; key lime pie; my girlfriends and everything I do with them; Trivia Tuesday at our local bar; getting a runner’s high; anything and everything pomegranate; horror movies; Phillies/Eagles/Sixers/Duke/Georgetown/Flyers; Being in a city; rowing
Things I hate:
Most children (especially those with sticky fingers and faces); people who ask “Who is walking who?” when I’m walking Willa; the way the current administration handles the conflict in the Middle East; dishwashers; chicken scratch handwriting; cold temperatures; things touching my cuticles

Yes, that’s Willa, the “ferocious” puppy that tried to run you over in my car.

I was almost killed, it should be noted. Poor me.

She tried at least. I still remember how scared you were by such a sweet, little dog. How could you mistake her wanting to lick you with her wanting to kill you?

Maybe her and I had a moment of cultural misunderstanding.

Interestingly enough I wrote about your talk at my school and your meeting with the puppy a few weeks back, on March 29th entitled “A Zionist and the Angry Arab walk into a bar…”

Just read it, Caitlyn. Quite interesting: you have the ability to write rather diplomatically. I could tell that you were put off by my demeanor in a debate. I make an effort to take what I do seriously: that I am not doing a show, or have some schtick for people. I also separate between how I am in my personal life (hopefully pleasant and happy) and my public role in speaking about injustices and cruelty that kill people. I realized the difference between my public speaking role and my private life more than 14 years ago: when my 2nd ex came to hear me speak for the first time. She told me that she did not like it; that likes my private persona: (nice and kind, etc) and that my public persona is more sharp and mean and nasty. Wait: am I being defensive after reading your post?

Yes, I really noticed a disparity between the two personas. I don’t believe that is a negative thing at all- for my it’s similar to most other professions. What you speak about obviously generates a lot of passion and, sadly, a lot of anger. I wouldn’t even say I was put off by it because I was expecting it a bit. I don’t think you had been given that nickname without reason.
It is hard to separate that anger from the diplomatic ends as well, though it is sometimes necessary. And for the record, I thought Mr. Levy was a snake.

I clicked on Rios because I missed the little effer and suddenly my monitor was filled with the largest photo of the smallest dog ever.
PS Love this place.
